Multiple oscillator models
The multiple oscillator model suggests that time is encoded in a population of oscillators with different base frequencies (Miall, 1989; Matell and Meck, 2004; Buhusi and Meck, 2005). Time can be read out by a set of coincidence detectors. This model has the advantages of not requiring an accumulator and being capable of timing multiple consecutive intervals once the oscillators have been triggered.
